Easiest sponge cake recipe.

Image
Hey guys, so last thursday I made a sponge cake for the first time in my life and surprisingly(because everyone says it's one of the most difficult cakes to get right) it turned out soo perfect. It was spongy and airy and perfectly flat on top :D (a bakers dream right?) Here's the recipe and precautions that I used under my mother in law's guidance :D Ingredients: (for the cake) 3 eggs 1/2cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup flour 1/3rd tea spoon baking powder Recipe: Preheat your oven to 350F. Beat your eggs for one minute with an electric beater at high speed. Add the granulated sugar and beat at high speed until the eggs are fluffy (You'l know it's done when you take out the whisk, the soft peak stays for atleast 10 seconds) This is really important because this is what makes your cake spongy. Add your flour and fold it in using a spoon or spatula until its incorporated taking care that you don't knock out the air from the eggs. Put the mixture

DIY: Crib canopy

Image
I've always wanted to give my daughter a princess bed. Although a full Princess makeover might not be in the plans right now, I can always give her a little one :) Disclaimer: this is the easiest way possible that I could find. You can opt to use a curtain on a hula hoop, that would give you more flare but it would also add to the cost and hula hoops are usually a little big for cribs. Things you need: Preferably a see through cloth of whatever colour you like. I got pink and this is mixed cotton because I couldn't find silk or net at my nearest craft store. Measure how tall you want the canopy to be from the floor and get the cloth in that length. Embroidery hoop  Fake flowers  twinkle lights scissors safety pins or you can sew if you want.  ribbon. a string. (Fish lines are better because they're invisible and strong.) How to make it.  I tried with two strings first and added a third one later.  1. Find the centre of the cloth's length

Spicy Chicken Salad

I started following a diet plan about 2 weeks ago since It's high time I loose the 10 extra kg I gained when I had my daughter. This diet consisted of eating salads everyday for lunch and as usual the first week was easy because I was really ambitious but by the mid of the second week I was losing my will to fight against making pasta or getting a burger or a pizza and I realised its because the salads I was making were not appealing to my appetite. That's when I realised I have to find recipes that will make me want to eat a salad everyday and I came up with this one. It's a really easy 15 min recipe, low in carbs, full of protein, keeps you full for longer and is really good to your taste buds :D so without further delay let's make my SPICY CHICKEN SALAD :D INGREDIENTS For the chicken: 1 tsp of olive oil 1/3rd of Breast piece (cut into bite sized pieces) 2 tbsp tomato puree 1/2 tsp paprika/red pepper crushed  salt to taste 1 tsp sesame seeds (optio

Apartment makeover: Corridor makeover Part 1

Image
Hey guys, How are you all? Do you guys remember this picture from my first post in this series? My apartment has a long corridor running through the length of it which means allot of empty walls with no furniture or anything on them.  I'm attaching this hand made plan of my apartment to make it easier.  the yellow highlighted portion is the corridor. Since it is pretty long, I'm dividing the post into two and doing only half of  the corridor right now. Although you can't see this wall when you enter because the door opens against this wall but it is the last thing you see when you leave my apartment :D So I'm thinking of changing the home sweet home print in here to something more appropriate. I would love to get your suggestions. The first wall you see when you enter the house is this one. This Bismillah was the first thing I painted after we shifted because God bless my grandmother she kept pressing me to put some ALLAH ka

Apartment makeover series: Dining room makeover

Image
Hi guys, how are you doing? I announced on my instagram last week that I'm going to be posting every Tuesday in shaa Allah. If you have not followed me there, do go and check it out, I post allot of other fun daily life stuff over there. (the link is in the left tab.) Now I'm soo excited about today's post. It's a little over due but these makovers take time. So backstory, this appartment had three bedrooms but the lounge or living area was not big enough for a dining table, neither was the kitchen, and we do like to host allot of friends and family so, a dining area was a must. Therefore, we compromised on the third bedroom, which was the smallest of the 3 and made it into a seperate dining room. Now, I've always dreamt of designing and decorating my home and I had been planing this appartment makeover for months. I have a very detailed pinterest board and had an image in my head of how the whole space would work out. I wanted something simple wi

My acne journey and the mistakes I made.

Image
Hey guys, How are you all doing? Today I wanted to talk about my Acne journey, all the mistakes I made and what I could have done differently. Hope it enlightens and helps you guys :) Also I want to mention that I am in no way saying that anyone struggling with acne is not beautiful or attractive. Any hardship that comes your way be it big or small only makes you stronger as a person. Love to all the people with acne <3 So, I started having acne when I was in 6th grade and I didn't get the occassional pimple here and there, I had full blown acne with pustules and scars and all. I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed me medicine, I took it and it didn't get better immediately so I stopped and started trying different totkas (home remedies) and face washes and other commercial acne products, basically whatever other poeple said worked for them, i tried it. It still didn't get better, so I went to a different doctor, he gave me a different, stronger medi

Hey guys, How are you all doing? I remember I started this blog back in I think 2010 or earlier and I honestly don't remember it being this hard, you know making an instagram profile, updating your facebook page, then adding all of that to the blog etc. (Have I gotten old or something? :P ) Requesting you guys to please put up with me while I try to learn this stuff. Anyways, I think I told you guys how excited I am to show you how i'm decorating my appartment. I dont exactly know what the size of the appartment is but it has 3 decent sized bedrooms, a kind of small living space, 2 baths, kitchen and no storage closets or any closets for that matter. (for some reason they mostly don't have built-in closets here in Saudi) First I want to show you guys the appartment in it's raw state and then do One room dedicated posts on how I decorated and made it functional. A little backstory, I told you guys since I had a 3 month visit visa last year, so we stayed in a f
