WATER MARBLE NAIL ART
Here's the big one girls... :-D
Water marble nail art tutorial :-D
I wanted to do it for allot of time but couldn't because, one, you cannot do it with every nail polish since every formula does not spread over water, second you have to use two nail polishes therefore you have to find such colors that look good together and also spread over one another ;-)
Hence, after trying a dozen nail colors and dirtying my hands again and again I at last succeeded with two colors and made my very own water marble nail art :-D
This post basically comprises on a tutorial and a few tips for a good result ;)
Hope you gals like it :) Lets begin..

THINGS YOU NEED
- base coat
- white nail color (I used eve's secret by color studio professionals)
- deep undercover by color studio professionals
- haute wheels by color studio professionals
- a top coat
- a cup or glass
- room temperature water
- a brush or an orange stick
- Vaseline or tape
- nail polish remover
HOW TO DO IT:
STEP 1:
Apply a base coat of clear nail polish to protect your nails from discoloration.
STEP 2:
Apply a base coat preferably white if you are using neon or light colors.

STEP 3:
Apply a thin coat of Vaseline to half of your fingers leaving the nails (it helps to remove the excess nail polish that comes on the fingers while doing the nail art). The alternative to Vaseline is tape which i personally find a bit difficult to use but allot of nail artists prefer that. You have to tape your fingers leaving the nails.
STEP 4:
Take a cup or glass preferably disposable cups because they'l get dirty (I have used my old pringles can :P) and fill them with tap water and make sure that the temperature of water is same as the room temperature.
STEP 5:
Now drop the polish in the water. It will start spreading itself then drop the other polish inside the first one, now drop the first polish again and continue to do this until you have circles of the nail colors inside one another and the center looks like a bull's eye. You have to do this all very fast before the polish dries out so better keep the caps of the nail polish already open and the consistency of the polish should be thin.
Not an exact bull's eye but I hope the picture gives you the idea :) |
STEP 6:
Take an orange stick or a brush or even a pin and start dragging the outer circles of nail polish to the inside and you'l see a design forming. Play with the polish and stop when you have the design you want on your nail.

STEP 7:
Place you nail over the part of the design you want on your nail and with a slow and steady move dip your nail in the water and keep it in. Now take a cotton bud and clean the excess polish from the surface of water and slowly take your finger out. Can you see the design?? ;-) but your finger is dirty?? the next step deals with the cleaning up ;)

looks a bit messy? but isn't the cleaning worth the design? |
STEP 8:
Take a cotton pad or tissue paper and clean the excess polish from your fingers. It will easily get off because of the Vaseline that we applied earlier. If you still have polish on your skin use a cotton bud dipped in polish remover and clean up. It can get a bit messy sometimes especially if you're doing it for the first time but I'm sure you can deal with it ;)
all neat and clean ;) |
STEP 9:
Apply a top coat and your design is ready :D
Final result ;) what do you think?? |
TIPS AND TRICKS ;)
These are based on my experiences, if you still face any kind of difficulty feel free to ask me in the comments section below :)
- The first tip would be to turn off your fans or air conditioners for sometime because it gives you some more time before your pattern dries.
- Second is not really a tip its an information, "not every nail polish can be used to do water marble because every polish is made with a different formula".
- As I mentioned earlier you have to be very fast so keep the nail polish caps open.
- Take "ROOM TEMPERATURE" water.
- To avoid air bubbles in your design keep your finger steady and slowly dip it in the water.
- If your polish doesn't spread try shaking the cup a bit because sometimes that helps.
- While making the design prefer to start from the second last or third last ring because the outer most is usually dried.
Do tell me what you think about this :) and DO NOT forget to share your nail art with me on my Facebook page.
